Formerl |
Description: |
yThis is the former Seaboard (later Amtrak) passenger station in Coumbia. Its in the heart of Columbias Vista, now a major bar and restaraunt area. The station is a Blue Marlin seafood place. I took this on Christmas night since almost every other night, the plae would be too busy for tis kind of shot. |

Description: |
Thisd is part of an old Seaboard branch from Catawba to Great Falls,'SC. Most of the track was ripped up in the 80s, but a scant bit of remains here and there. This track is part of a spur that ran to an old textile mill, seen in the background. |

What Once Was Where? |
Description: |
Shot from Washington Street looking down toward where the passenger station -- now Blue Marlin -- used to be. The tracks ran into the tunnel Im standing on. Almost exactly 22 years before, F. Will Martin stood here and shot a train coming at him -- http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1485334 |

Not officially abandoned, thns section of rail hsn't seen a train since March, 2001 when it was owned by Norfolk Southern. Current owner L&C probably hopes to eventuallyreopen this line and acquire permi sion into Catawba, SC if not Rock Hill. |

Old Depot |
Description: |
A night time shot of the crumbling former Southern depot in the Newberry County town of Prosperity, SC. A few months ago there was a sign imploring people to donate money to save this building. The sign is gone now. No word why. |
